First, fierce sectarian clashes erupted in southern Syria’s Sweida between Druze militias and Bedouin tribes, leaving over 300 dead in less than a week. Subsequently, Syria’s interim government sought control by sending troops, triggering a tentative ceasefire with Druze leaders.

Additionally, Israel launched airstrikes on Syrian military sites in Damascus—targeting the Defence Ministry and sites near the presidential palace—to deter further aggression against the Druze minority.
