Adobe Debuts Firefly App on Mobile for AI Image & Video Creation

Adobe has launched its standalone Firefly app on iOS and Android, enabling users to generate and edit images and videos with AI prompts. The app supports Adobe’s own models along with third-party partners, and syncs creations instantly with Creative CloudAdobe has officially released the Firefly mobile app for both iPhone and Android, bringing its powerful generative AI capabilities to smartphones. The app allows users to create stunning images and video clips using text-to-image, text-to-video, and image-to-video tools—all powered by Adobe’s own Firefly models.

Beyond image generation, the app integrates advanced Photoshop-style editing tools like Generative Fill and Generative Expand, enabling users to easily remove, add, or expand elements within images. Everything created on the app is automatically synced to Creative Cloud, offering seamless continuity across Adobe’s desktop and web platforms.

What sets this release apart is the integration of third-party AI models, including those from OpenAI, Google’s Imagen & Veo, Luma AI, Ideogram, Runway, and Pika. Initially, these external models are available via Firefly Boards, Adobe’s collaborative whiteboard tool, but they will soon be fully accessible within the mobile app itself.

Users can access basic image generation for free, while premium features and third-party models require Firefly credits, which align with Creative Cloud subscriptions or can be purchased separately.

On the video front, Firefly Boards—currently in public beta—now includes AI-powered video tools. Users can remix clips, generate fresh footage, and storyboard using a combination of Adobe’s and partner video models.

Adobe emphasizes “commercially safe” AI, ensuring all models are trained on licensed or public-domain data. Firefly also tags each asset with a model “nutrition label” to maintain transparency and trust for creators.

According to Adobe, the platform has already powered the creation of over 24 billion assets, and the mobile launch aims to democratize access to generative AI tools and enhance creative workflows on the go.
