Mysuru:
A 32-year-old woman from Mysuru has been arrested for allegedly poisoning five members of her own family, a crime reportedly linked to her illicit extramarital relationship. The shocking case unfolded in the quiet locality of Nanjangud, where suspicion was initially raised following the sudden illness of multiple family members.
According to police sources, the woman, identified as Lakshmi, had been involved in an affair with a man from the neighborhood. Her family had reportedly expressed strong disapproval, leading to frequent arguments and growing domestic tension. Unable to break free from the mounting pressure, Lakshmi allegedly took a drastic step—mixing poison into the family’s food.
The victims, including her husband and two children, began experiencing severe symptoms shortly after dinner on Sunday night. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors managed to stabilize them. Thankfully, all victims are currently out of danger and recovering.
Police Investigation & Confession:
Upon investigation, inconsistencies in Lakshmi’s statements raised red flags. CCTV footage and food sample tests confirmed deliberate tampering. Eventually, under sustained questioning, she confessed to her actions, citing emotional turmoil and frustration over the lack of acceptance of her relationship.
The police have charged her under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including attempt to murder and administering poison with intent to cause harm. Further investigation is underway to determine if her lover had any role in the conspiracy.
