Coimbatore, Nilgiris, and other regions to see heavy showers
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Tamil Nadu heavy rain alert for Chennai, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, and four other districts in Tamil Nadu. Officials urged residents to remain cautious as isolated areas may receive intense downpours over the next 48 hours.

IMD Predicts Intense Showers Across Tamil Nadu
The IMD warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in six districts, including Chennai, Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tirupur, Theni, and Dindigul. Meteorologists expect these rains to occur due to active southwest monsoon conditions and an upper air cyclonic circulation near the Western Ghats.
Officials Urge Precaution
Authorities in affected regions asked citizens to avoid low-lying and flood-prone areas. Disaster response teams remain on standby, especially in hilly zones like Nilgiris where landslides may occur.
