Government Confirms Direct Transfer to Farmers
The government has officially confirmed that the 20th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana will be disbursed on August 2, 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the release event and initiate the transfer under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
This transfer will deliver ₹2,000 each to over 9 crore registered farmers. The timing is crucial as it helps farmers meet immediate agricultural expenses during the ongoing monsoon period.
How Farmers Can Check Beneficiary Status
To ensure transparency, the government has simplified the process for farmers to check their beneficiary status. They need to:
Visit the PM-KISAN website
Click “Know Your Status”
Enter Aadhaar or registered mobile number
View payment status and installment history
Moreover, farmers should complete eKYC and link Aadhaar to their bank accounts. These steps prevent payment issues and ensure prompt disbursal.
Understanding PM-Kisan Yojana’s Structure
The PM-Kisan scheme, launched in 2019, aims to provide ₹6,000 annually to landholding farmer families. It distributes the amount in three equal installments of ₹2,000.
So far, the scheme has transferred over ₹2.8 lakh crore to eligible beneficiaries. It targets small and marginal farmers, boosting financial security in rural areas and ensuring continued agricultural productivity.
Mandatory eKYC and Land Verification
Starting this installment, the government has made eKYC and land record verification mandatory. These measures reduce fraudulent claims and improve the accuracy of fund distribution.
Farmers can complete their eKYC online or by visiting nearby Common Service Centres (CSCs). Authorities urge those who haven’t yet completed these requirements to do so immediately to avoid missing the installment.
State-Level Implementation and Monitoring
State and district agricultural officers are coordinating with the Centre to guarantee smooth fund transfers. High-agriculture states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Maharashtra will likely receive a significant portion of the installment due to their large farmer base.
Officers have been instructed to assist farmers in verifying their status and completing eKYC where needed.

Why This Installment Matters Now
The 20th installment of PM-Kisan comes at a critical time. Farmers are preparing for sowing, facing unpredictable monsoons and rising input costs. This timely financial support offers much-needed relief, particularly to low-income households.
Additionally, the release aligns with the government’s broader focus on rural development and could play a role in shaping public sentiment ahead of upcoming state elections.
