In a horrific attack on Pakistan’s security forces, 13 soldiers were killed and several others injured when a suicide bomber drove an explosive-laden vehicle into a military convoy in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, near the North Waziristan region.

The attack occurred late Tuesday near Miranshah, an area that has seen frequent insurgent activity. The convoy was reportedly moving between posts when the attacker struck without warning, triggering a massive explosion that destroyed multiple vehicles and set off fires visible from several kilometers away.

     Attack Details:

According to security sources:

  • The bomber was driving a white SUV disguised as a civilian vehicle

  • The explosion occurred on a narrow stretch of road, limiting escape options

  • Immediate backup and air support were dispatched to the site

  • Rescue operations continued through the night, with bodies and injured airlifted to military hospitals in Peshawar and Bannu

No militant group has claimed responsibility so far, but officials suspect involvement of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) or ISIS-K, both of which are active in the region.

    Official Response:

The Pakistan Army released a statement mourning the loss of its personnel and vowing a strong retaliatory operation.

“Such cowardly attacks will not shake our resolve. The blood of our martyrs will be avenged,” the statement read.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister and key political leaders condemned the attack, calling it an act of terrorism against the nation, and emphasized the need for unified national resolve.

     Background on Region:

The tribal districts near North Waziristan have long been a battleground between militant groups and the military. Despite large-scale operations like Zarb-e-Azb, terror cells remain active, especially near the Afghanistan border, taking advantage of rugged terrain and limited local policing.

This attack is part of a spike in violence seen in the past few months, especially against security personnel and law enforcement agencies.

     Key Highlights (Bullet Points):

  • Suicide bomber kills 13 soldiers in convoy attack near Miranshah

  • Vehicle was disguised as civilian transport

  • Injured troops airlifted to Peshawar and Bannu

  • Area under high alert; retaliatory operation expected

  • Attack likely linked to TTP or cross-border militant networks
