Indian Investigators: All Pahalgam Attackers Were Pakistan Nationals, NIA Confirms

In a major revelation, Indian authorities have confirmed that all three militants involved in the recent Pahalgam massacre were nationals of Pakistan, directly linked to the banned terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. The investigation points to clear signs of cross-border terror planning.

Indian security agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), have confirmed that all attackers involved in the Pahalgam massacre were Pakistani nationals. The deadly attack, which took place in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam area on April 22, claimed the lives of 26 people — mostly tourists — and shocked the entire nation.

According to official sources, forensic evidence, mobile data analysis, and custodial interrogations of local overground workers (OGWs) have verified that the assailants infiltrated from across the border and had direct logistical and operational support from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) handlers.

“We now have irrefutable evidence, including communication intercepts and human intelligence, confirming the attackers were Pakistani nationals trained and dispatched by Lashkar-e-Taiba,” said a senior NIA officer.

One of the terrorists is believed to be a former commando of the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG), adding further seriousness to the incident. Investigators say this individual exhibited combat skills beyond ordinary terrorist training, including precise targeting and tactical planning.

   Key Investigation Findings:

  • The attackers infiltrated via the Pir Panjal range, with support from local operatives.

  • Two locals have been arrested for providing shelter and logistics, including food and temporary housing.

  • Weapons recovered include Pakistan-origin rifles, grenades, and encrypted communication devices.

  • Ballistics reports matched ammunition used in past cross-border attacks, confirming LeT involvement.

  • Mobile tower dumps and surveillance footage helped reconstruct their movement from the border to the attack site.

   India’s Official Response:

Following the revelations, India has launched a multi-pronged diplomatic and security response:

  • Diplomatic ties downgraded with Pakistan.

  • Several Pakistani nationals’ visas revoked and trade routes re-evaluated.

  • The government is reportedly reviewing the Indus Waters Treaty as a pressure measure.

  • Security has been heightened in key pilgrimage and tourist zones, with increased intelligence coordination.

  • Linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, with one attacker identified as an ex-SSG commando
