Nothing Phone 3 Set for July 1 Launch with Long-Term Software Support

Tech startup Nothing has officially announced that its next flagship smartphone, Nothing Phone 3, will be unveiled globally on July 1, 2025. The launch will also take place in India on the same day. The Phone 3 is expected to bring both design and performance upgrades, continuing the brand’s bold aesthetic and innovative identity.

This time, the company is making a major shift in its approach to product longevity. The Phone 3 will offer 5 years of Android operating system updates and 7 years of security patches — a massive leap over the Phone 2, which offered 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security fixes.

In terms of design, the Phone 3 will reportedly retain the transparent back cover but ditch the signature Glyph Interface lighting in favor of a cleaner dot-matrix LED design. The new visual style aims to look more premium while improving usability.

Performance-wise, the smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, providing a near-flagship level experience at a more affordable price point. This chipset is expected to balance efficiency, AI capabilities, and speed, appealing to performance-focused users.

Nothing’s co-founder Akis Evangelidis has emphasized that the extended support cycle is part of the brand’s commitment to sustainability and value. In an era where users demand longer support and fewer frequent upgrades, this move positions the Phone 3 in competition with software leaders like Apple, Samsung, and Google.
