After witnessing record monsoon rainfall over the past 48 hours, Mumbai is now on high tide alert, with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and disaster response units advising residents and tourists to stay away from Juhu Beach, Marine Drive, and other seafront areas.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the city recorded over 250 mm of rainfall, flooding several low-lying areas, disrupting suburban train services, and causing major traffic jams.

    High Tide Timings & Risks:

Officials have reported multiple high tide events, with waves expected to reach up to 4.7 meters. The next high tide is forecasted during the afternoon, coinciding with continued heavy rains, increasing the risk of coastal flooding.

“People are strongly advised to stay indoors and avoid coastal areas. Lifeguards have been deployed, and barricades are in place near vulnerable points,” a BMC official stated.

    Juhu Beach Closed for Visitors:

The Mumbai Police have cordoned off Juhu Beach and urged citizens to avoid visiting until further notice. Videos from the location show large waves crashing over the promenade and water logging in surrounding streets.

Tourists and locals are being redirected, while emergency rescue teams remain on standby.

  • Railways: Local train services on the Western and Central lines faced delays

  • Roads: Traffic snarls reported in Andheri, Dadar, Kurla, and Sion

  • Air Travel: Minor flight delays due to poor visibility at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport
