Six Airbags Now a Standard Feature

Maruti Suzuki has taken a major step toward passenger safety by standardizing six airbags across all variants of its popular Baleno premium hatchback and Ertiga MPV. Previously available only in top-end trims, this move reflects the brand’s commitment to ensuring advanced safety for every buyer, regardless of budget.

Prices Increased to Match Safety Upgrade

To offset the additional manufacturing cost, Maruti Suzuki has increased the prices of both models. The Baleno sees a hike of ₹5,000 to ₹12,000, while Ertiga prices have risen by up to ₹14,000 depending on the variant. This pricing update came into effect starting July 15, 2025.

Compliance with Bharat NCAP and Market Trends

This decision follows growing consumer demand for safer vehicles and anticipates the Bharat NCAP norms expected to impact safety ratings in India. By introducing standard airbags, Maruti Suzuki aims to boost its safety image and remain competitive in the increasingly safety-conscious Indian market.

Additional Features Remain Unchanged

Apart from the airbag addition and slight price revision, Maruti has not introduced any mechanical or cosmetic changes in the Baleno and Ertiga. Both cars continue to offer petrol and CNG options, with features like SmartPlay infotainment and advanced driver assist systems in top trims.
