In a shocking incident highlighting the dark side of social media trends, a 17-year-old boy from Maharashtra is in critical condition after a “suicide-themed” video shoot went disastrously wrong. The teenager, identified as a college student from Nashik district, was attempting to create a reel portraying a mock suicide scene when the situation spiraled out of control.
According to police sources, the boy tied a noose around his neck to shoot a video inspired by viral suicide-themed content. What was supposed to be a staged act turned into a real-life emergency when he accidentally lost his footing and began choking. Family members rushed in after hearing distressing sounds and managed to untie him, but by then, the oxygen deprivation had already taken a toll.
He was immediately taken to a private hospital, where he remains on ventilator support. Doctors have stated his condition is critical but stable, with possible long-term neurological effects depending on how his body responds in the next 48 hours.
Authorities Alarmed:
Local law enforcement is investigating the incident and has issued a warning to parents and educational institutions regarding the dangers of unsupervised and sensational social media trends. Officials noted that the teen had previously shown interest in “dramatic” video content and may have been influenced by reels depicting dark or violent themes.
“We urge parents to monitor their children’s online activities closely,” a Nashik police spokesperson said. “This is not an isolated case. Teenagers are getting deeply influenced by online content and sometimes go too far in pursuit of likes and validation.”
