Jaipur – In a striking example of social media recklessness, seven individuals, including a popular local influencer, have been arrested in Rajasthan after filming and uploading a video involving the illegal consumption and display of liquor in public spaces. The video, reportedly created for likes and social media engagement, quickly gained traction online—drawing not just viewers, but also the attention of law enforcement.

The incident occurred in Alwar, where the group shot the video on public roads and at a bus stand. The footage, now widely circulated, shows open liquor bottles being flaunted while the group acted out what authorities described as a “crass stunt” designed to provoke and attract online popularity.

Police Action & Charges:

Following public complaints and viral spread of the video, local police tracked down the individuals through their social media profiles. Rajasthan Police confirmed that the arrests were made under sections related to public nuisance, indecency, and violating excise laws.

The influencer—whose Instagram account boasts thousands of followers—was identified as the primary planner of the stunt. According to officials, he not only choreographed the shoot but also encouraged others to participate under the promise of increased online exposure.

Authorities Speak:

“We are sending a clear message: social media popularity cannot come at the cost of public order,” said SP Kushal Singh, adding that this will serve as a deterrent for others planning similar antics.

The group is currently in judicial custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.

Why This Matters:

This is not the first time content creators have run afoul of the law in India while attempting viral content. The growing obsession with follower counts has led many influencers to take risky, often unlawful measures—ranging from traffic disruptions to dangerous stunts.

Public safety experts and digital analysts are calling for stricter guidelines and content regulation on platforms where such trends originate.
