In a reassuring statement to families across Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister of J&K confirmed that students who were recently evacuated from Iran will be brought back to the region in specially arranged deluxe buses.
The decision comes after a group of Kashmiri students, who were studying in Iran and stranded amid rising regional tensions, were successfully airlifted back to India under a special evacuation mission. These students had appealed for support due to safety concerns and restricted mobility in the conflict-affected region.
Speaking at a press conference in Srinagar, the Chief Minister said,
“Our students are our priority. They’ve returned from a very difficult situation, and we will ensure their journey home is safe, smooth, and dignified.”
The J&K administration is deploying air-conditioned deluxe buses with onboard medical assistance to receive the students from the quarantine facility and bring them back to their home districts across the union territory.
Key Arrangements Include:
-
Sanitized, fully air-conditioned deluxe buses for long-distance travel
-
Medical teams onboard to monitor any post-quarantine health issues
-
Local district coordination officers to receive and guide students
-
Snacks, water, and hygiene kits provided during the journey
-
Strict adherence to COVID-19 or post-travel protocols, if any remain
Most of the students were undergoing a mandatory health check and isolation period upon their return to India. With clearance from health authorities, their journey home is being facilitated with utmost care.
The Chief Minister also thanked the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Embassy in Tehran, and local Iranian authorities for ensuring the students’ safe departure and coordination.
Parents of the students have expressed relief and gratitude, having spent weeks in uncertainty while their children were stranded abroad.
“I’m just thankful to see my son return alive and safe. This arrangement is beyond what we expected,” said one emotional parent in Anantnag.
The move has drawn praise across the political spectrum, with opposition leaders also applauding the non-partisan effort to protect and support the youth of the state.
