Major Jio Network Outage Hits Multiple Cities
Millions of Reliance Jio users across India were left disconnected on July 7, 2025, as a major network outage affected both mobile internet and voice call services. From Delhi to Bengaluru, and Mumbai to Kolkata, users complained of being unable to access the internet, make phone calls, or even send basic SMS messages.
Downdetector, a real-time outage tracking website, showed a sharp spike in complaints starting at around 10:30 AM. Over 60% of users reported issues with mobile data, while 25% reported a total signal loss, and the remaining noted problems with voice calls.
Cities Affected & User Reaction
Among the most severely affected cities were Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bhopal, and Ahmedabad. Many users turned to social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) with hashtags such as #JioDown and #InternetIssue trending within an hour.
Some users reported emergency communication issues while working remotely or relying on Jio networks for digital payments and real-time location services. Educational institutions, gig workers, and corporate users also expressed concerns about the disruption’s impact on productivity.
Jio Yet to Issue an Official Statement
As of now, Reliance Jio has not issued any formal response regarding the cause of the outage or its expected resolution time. While minor outages aren’t new in telecom infrastructure, the scale of this disruption has raised questions about backup protocols and network resilience.
Experts speculate that the issue may be linked to a fiber backbone or DNS routing failure, although these claims remain unconfirmed.
