In a vibrant display of environmental awareness and community health consciousness, hundreds of cyclists in Indore participated in a city-wide cycling event this weekend. The rally started from Bengali Square, passed through Rajwada, and concluded near the Indore Airport, covering major city routes.

The initiative, organized by local cycling clubs and supported by civic bodies, aimed to spread the message of clean air, fitness, and sustainable mobility. Participants included people from all age groups—students, professionals, and even senior citizens.

Route and Highlights

  • Start Point: Bengali Square

  • Major Stops: Palasia, Rajwada, Bada Ganpati

  • End Point: Near Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport

  • Distance Covered: Approx. 18–20 kilometers

The event witnessed cyclists in high-visibility vests carrying placards with slogans like “Pedal for Air, Not for Oil” and “Cycle Today, Breathe Tomorrow.”

Purpose Behind the Ride

Organizers emphasized the ride’s purpose to promote:

  • Eco-friendly commuting to reduce carbon emissions

  • Physical fitness and active lifestyles in urban areas

  • Cleaner, greener Indore through community engagement

The event also coincides with Indore’s efforts to maintain its reputation as one of India’s cleanest cities.

 City Officials and Public Response

Several city officials, health professionals, and environmental activists also joined the initiative. Addressing the participants, one civic official said:

“Cycling is not just an exercise; it’s a movement. A small pedal today can lead to big changes in tomorrow’s air quality.”

Locals along the route came out in support, cheering cyclists and even joining briefly in different sections of the ride.

Voices from the Ride

  • Riya S., College Student: “It’s fun, it’s healthy, and it’s making a difference. What more do you need?”

  • Mukesh T., IT Professional: “I’ve started cycling to work twice a week. Events like this keep me motivated.”

Future Plans

The organizers announced plans to make such rides monthly events, possibly introducing night cycling, women-only rides, and school participation programs to engage wider sections of society.
