India’s Push Towards Electric Freight Mobility
In a bold step toward decarbonizing the transport sector, India has introduced its first incentive scheme for electric trucks, signaling a major policy shift. The government plans to support the deployment of approximately 5,600 electric trucks across logistics, steel, cement, and other sectors.

Financial Incentives: Buyers can receive subsidies ranging from ₹2.7 lakh to ₹9.6 lakh, depending on the battery capacity or 10% of the ex-factory price, whichever is lower.

Eligibility: Applies to N2 (3.5–12 tonne) and N3 (12–55 tonne) category trucks.

Conditions: Customers must retire an old diesel truck and purchase new vehicles backed by at least 5-year battery and motor warranties.
Sectoral Impact & Goals

Focus on Urban Pollution
