Hyundai Eyes Premium SUV Market with Palisade Hybrid Launch in India

In a strategic move to expand its premium vehicle lineup in India, Hyundai is preparing to launch the Palisade Hybrid SUV by 2028. This full-size, three-row SUV is positioned to take on segment leader Toyota Fortuner, and marks Hyundai’s entry into the large SUV space with a hybrid drivetrain.

The Palisade Hybrid is expected to come equipped with a 2.5-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor. Together, the setup delivers around 334 PS of power and 460 Nm of torque. The SUV will offer front-wheel drive as standard, with an optional all-wheel-drive system, and will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai is also focusing on fuel efficiency and versatility, claiming a mileage of approximately 14.1 kmpl and a driving range exceeding 1,000 km. The SUV will feature various drive modes such as Eco, Sport, Snow, and Mud, catering to different terrains and driving preferences.

Inside, the Palisade is expected to impress with premium features like:

  • Dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and driver display

  • Captain seats in the second row with footrests

  • Panoramic sunroof

  • 360-degree camera system

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for enhanced safety

The vehicle may also include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities, enabling external devices to be powered using the car’s battery—a first in the segment.

With an expected price of around ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom), the Palisade Hybrid will go up against the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Skoda Kodiaq. Hyundai’s strategy is to offer luxury, performance, and eco-friendly mobility in one package, aiming at urban families and executives who want a mix of status and sustainability.

This launch is part of Hyundai’s broader vision to introduce 26 new models in India by 2030, with a strong focus on electric and hybrid technologies. The Palisade Hybrid will be assembled locally, which could help keep the price competitive.
