Massive Cobra Hatchling Rescue Operation in Mandsaur

Unexpected Discovery Alarms Villagers

Residents of Barkheda Panth village in Mandsaur district were shocked when they discovered dozens of baby cobras emerging from a hole inside a house. The family immediately alerted local forest officials, fearing for their safety as the venomous snakes began to spread across the area.

Forest Team Responds Swiftly

Upon receiving the alert, a wildlife rescue team, including trained snake catchers, reached the spot promptly. With proper equipment and protective gear, they carefully extracted the hatchlings from different corners of the house. Over 50 baby cobras, along with a few eggs yet to hatch, were found during the operation. Fortunately, no one was injured during the rescue.

Forest Ranger Rakesh Kumar stated, “The rescue was challenging due to the number of snakes, but we ensured the safety of the residents first. All hatchlings have been released into a suitable forest habitat.”

Why It Happened: Nesting in Monsoon

Experts believe the cobras may have laid eggs inside the structure during the early monsoon season. The warm, undisturbed corners of mud houses provide ideal conditions for reptile nesting, especially in rural areas.

Snake expert Vinod Patel mentioned, “It’s common for snakes to seek shelter in cooler areas during summer. With rains arriving, these eggs hatched naturally.”
