Amit Shah Blasts Congress Over Pakistan, Terrorism and Partition

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing the Lok Sabha, strongly criticized the Congress party and its senior leaders for their stance on Pakistan and their failure to handle issues related to terrorism and national security. He accused Rahul Gandhi and P. Chidambaram of defending Pakistan’s interests during parliamentary debates and questioned their silence on cross-border terrorism.

During a fiery speech linked to the controversial Operation Mahadev in Pahalgam, Shah pointed out how Congress’ past policies led to long-term issues like the Kashmir conflict and national division. He stated that by speaking in Pakistan’s favor, Congress was “trying to whitewash” the country’s role in sponsoring terrorism in India.

Targeting the Legacy of Partition and Article 370

Shah didn’t hold back from blaming Congress for India’s Partition and the subsequent chaos. He reiterated that the flawed decisions made by the Congress leadership at the time have had long-standing repercussions, especially in Jammu & Kashmir.

Referring to Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu & Kashmir before it was abrogated in 2019, Shah reminded the House that the Congress resisted its removal. He claimed that the abrogation brought peace and full integration to the region—something that Congress allegedly failed to achieve for decades.

Amit Shah Questions Chidambaram’s Stand on Pakistan

A key moment in the speech was when Shah directly addressed senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram, asking, “What will you gain by saving Pakistan?” The remark sparked a raucous reaction in the House and highlighted growing tensions between the government and opposition on national security matters.

Shah argued that Pakistan’s track record on harboring terrorism is well documented, and defending them on international platforms only weakens India’s position.

Congress Leaders Respond

While Amit Shah’s speech drew strong support from the BJP benches, Congress leaders dismissed his remarks as politically motivated. They accused the BJP of using Pakistan and terrorism as distractions from pressing domestic issues such as unemployment and inflation. Nevertheless, the speech has reignited debates around national security and historical accountability.
