State sees two-day relief as monsoon to intensify midweek again

Two-Day Weather Break Brings Temporary Relief
Madhya Pradesh saw a brief respite from the relentless monsoon rains on July 21 and is expected to remain relatively dry for the next 48 hours. Several regions including Indore, Bhopal, and Jabalpur reported dry and moderately humid conditions. Commuters and residents enjoyed clear skies after battling consistent downpours for the past week.
Heavy Rain to Resume From July 23
According to the IMD, a low-pressure area is forming in the Bay of Bengal and will likely intensify, leading to fresh spells of rain in central India, including Madhya Pradesh. Consequently, districts like Ujjain, Rewa, and Sagar may face heavy to very heavy rainfall from July 23 onwards. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid water-logged areas and stay updated on weather advisories.

Impact on Daily Life and Travel
Although the weather eased for now, previous downpours already caused urban flooding in parts of Bhopal and Gwalior. Transportation, especially in rural zones, continues to be partially affected. Meanwhile, farmers remain hopeful as the rains could help boost the Kharif crop yield this season.
Authorities Advise Caution
The state disaster management department has advised people to remain indoors during intense rainfall hours, especially in flood-prone zones. Schools and government offices are currently operating normally, though officials may revise plans based on upcoming rainfall data.
