Six Airbags Now Standard Across All Variants

In a major step toward improved passenger safety, Maruti Suzuki has announced that all variants of the Ertiga and Baleno will now come equipped with six airbags—dual front, side, and curtain airbags.

Previously, this safety feature was limited to higher trims. With this update, even entry-level variants will meet elevated safety expectations from customers and future government norms.

Updated Prices After Safety Upgrade

Following the safety enhancement, the prices of both models have been revised:

  • Ertiga: ₹8.96 lakh to ₹13.25 lakh (ex-showroom)

  • Baleno: ₹6.70 lakh to ₹9.92 lakh (ex-showroom)

This reflects a price hike of approximately 1.4% for the Ertiga and 0.5% for the Baleno. The new pricing is effective from July 2025.

Strategic Safety Move

Maruti Suzuki’s decision supports its broader strategy to offer better safety across all segments:

  • Improves consumer confidence and brand image

  • Aligns with the upcoming safety regulation mandating six airbags in all cars

  • Reinforces market competitiveness amid growing safety-conscious customers

With additional safety features like ABS with EBD, ESC, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and now standard airbags, the Ertiga and Baleno are among the most safety-equipped cars in their segments.

What to Expect Next

Maruti Suzuki plans to expand the six-airbag safety feature to more models in the coming months. This step comes as India moves closer to enforcing stricter vehicle safety regulations. By acting early, the company is showing strong intent to lead in safety compliance. At the same time, it is working to maintain cost-effectiveness across its lineup.

Moreover, this move strengthens the brand’s position in a market where safety is becoming a top priority for buyers. It also aligns with global automotive trends and consumer expectations. As regulatory deadlines approach, Maruti Suzuki is preparing to meet them not just as a requirement, but as a competitive advantage.
