Tesla Marks Entry into Indian EV Market
Tesla firmly enters the Indian market with the launch of the Model Y, showcasing its commitment with India’s first showroom in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. The all-electric SUV joins competitors like Kia EV6, BYD Sealion 7, and Hyundai Ioniq 5 in the premium EV segment.
Performance & Variants
Tesla offers two rear-wheel-drive variants:

Standard RWD ➝ WLTP range: 500 km; 0–100 km/h in 5.9 s; price ₹59.89 lakh.

Long‑Range RWD ➝ range 622 km; 0–100 km/h in 5.6 s; price ₹67.89 lakh.
Both hit a top speed of 201 km/h and feature a minimalist 15.3‑in touchscreen, panoramic roof, heated and ventilated seats, 9‑speaker system, and eight exterior cameras.

Booking & Delivery Info
Tesla opened bookings with a token deposit of ₹22,220, followed by ₹3 lakh within seven day. It will register cars initially in Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram. Deliveries are expected from Q3 2025 for the standard model and October for the long‑range variant.
Why It Matters
Tesla sees India’s luxury EV segment—barely 12% of overall EV sales—as ripe for disruption. By launching first with the Model Y, Tesla hopes to lead the premium electric SUV space and push for future local manufacturing
