Nissan Recall Raises Safety Alarms Across North America
Japanese automaker Nissan has announced a massive recall affecting more than 443,000 vehicles in the U.S. and a significant number in Canada due to potential engine failure risks. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued an alert stating that the issue could lead to sudden engine shutdowns, raising the risk of crashes.
The recall specifically targets certain 2020–2024 models of the Nissan Frontier and Nissan Titan pickup trucks. The engine wiring harness may come into contact with hot exhaust components, potentially leading to electrical short circuits and unexpected power loss.
A Global Concern for Nissan Drivers
In Canada, nearly 21,000 vehicles are being recalled under similar conditions. Transport Canada emphasized the risk of engine stalling without warning, which could jeopardize the safety of drivers and passengers.
Nissan has advised affected customers to bring their vehicles to dealerships, where technicians will inspect and, if needed, replace or reposition the wiring harness. The fix will be free of charge.
Company’s Response and Future Measures
Nissan stated it is working closely with regulatory authorities in both countries and has begun notifying owners. No accidents or injuries have been reported so far, but the automaker has committed to strengthening safety inspections and communication protocols to prevent such issues in future models.
What Affected Owners Should Do
Owners of potentially impacted vehicles are encouraged to visit Nissan’s recall site or contact customer service to check their vehicle identification number (VIN). Nissan plans to begin official recall notifications by the end of July 2025.
